Bonga and Vatiswa Mavume

Bonga and Vatiswa Mavume are proud and excited to be giving full rein to their entrepreneurial spirit by growing and diversifying Nalitha Fishing. Bonga has led the company as Managing Director since its formation in 2018. Vatiswa, the owner of her own successful business, recently joined Nalitha Fishing as Communications and Public Relations Manager.
Nalitha fishing group is a family owned business based in Hout bay, with the name “Nalitha” derived from the amalgamations of the Initials of Founder Bonga Mavume’s 3 children, Nande Libo and Lilitha. Bonga Mavume established Nalitha with idea of creating a legacy, and contributing to the community.

Jingxi

Financial Manager

Doctor Jingxi started his career with Nalitha Fishing as a Junior Cost Accountant and was soon promoted to Financial Manager. He holds a degree in Accounting Sciences from Walter Sisulu University and is currently studying towards a postgraduate diploma in Accounting Science through the University of South Africa.

Denver Van Schalkwyk​

Operations Manager

Denver van Schalkwyk has worked in the South African fishing industry for the past 36 years, and has vast experience of the west coast rock lobster fishery, the hake trawl and longline fisheries and the squid jigging fishery. As Operations Manager, he is responsible for the smooth operation of Nalitha Fishing’s fleet and factory.

Arendse

Quality Manager and HACCP Coordinator

Alison Arendse has worked in the South African fishing industry for 30 years. She began her career at the Sentinel factory 10 years ago as a Quality Controller, and through hard work and training has grown into the role of HACCP Coordinator. She is responsible for the implementation of the HACCP system in the Sentinel factory.

It has interests in the hake deep-sea trawl, hake longline, tuna pole and west coast rock lobster fisheries.

​Based in Hout Bay harbour, Nalitha Fishing operates a fleet of fishing vessels and the HACCP-accredited Sentinel Seafoods fish processing facility. The company is led by a highly experienced and dynamic team which is excited to be growing the Nalitha brand and expanding its customer base in Europe, China, the United States and Japan, as well as at home in South Africa.

Nalitha’s sea-going crews and fish factory workers are highly skilled in the handling, processing and packaging of hake, tuna, rock lobster, snoek and other types of fish. The team in the factory is able to process any type of raw material according to customer specifications, and within the strict bounds of the HACCP food safety system. As a result, Nalitha Fishing is well-positioned to provide a professional and convenient fish processing, packaging and marketing service to third party fishing companies.
